Baby Sensory UAE

A fun sensory learning environment for babies 0-13 months old.

I took my 6 months old to a try out a sensory class with Baby Sensory UAE at The Mall in Jumeirah. Our class had around 6 moms and babies between the ages of 0-6 months old participating.

The class is conducted by a lovely instructor who takes you through all the activities and songs if you are a first timer.

Age appropriate songs are sung with an introduction to sign language learning the signs for words like Love, Moon, Stars, Hear etc. I loved the idea of introducing sign language at a young age, Luna also seemed to be very engaged.

Each class for the week has a different theme. On the day of our class the theme was weather and each song and activity followed the theme. We did a sensory activity symbolizing rain with a piece of plastic sheet that imitated the sound of rain, while bubbles were blown around the room feeling like raindrops as they popped against your skin.

Classes run for 1 hour which include a 20 minute break for diaper changes or feeds. During the break, your little ones can also explore the ball pit and soft play area inside the Smart Start Center where the classes are held.

Baby Sensory UAE offers classes for different age groups ranging from 0-5 years old and prices differ depending on single booked classes or packages purchased.

You can also download KidzApp on your mobile phone where you can book classes directly on the App and choose which location suits you the best.

My Gym

Fitness made fun for little ones

We popped along to a parent and child class at My Gym in Dubai and my 2-year-old had an absolute blast.

My Gym is an indoor facility decked with climbing frames, trampolines, ball pits and mini gymnastic equipment where little ones can learn how to use their energy in constructive exercise while learning some basic gymnastics skills.

The instructors are fun and energetic and really show a passion for working with the little ones. I enjoyed watching them interact with each child as well as give each child in the class the specific attention that they required.

The class starts off with some singing and an introduction of the kids, parents and instructors. Then on to some climbing, jumping and balancing beams. Instructors then help the little ones with tucks and tumbles which is really cute to watch. Little swings are hung from the ceiling which adds as extra fun element and entertainment for the kids. And finally at the end of the class, a huge bucket of toys and musical instruments are brought out for them to enjoy.

Overall we were very happy and had loads of fun. We will definitely be returning for another class or two. They also have a some camps which run through the year and host some awesome gymtastic birthday parties.

You can download the Kidzapp here where they have some awesome deals for My Gym.

The Little Gym

Fun, noncompetitive gymnastic classes for babies, toddlers, and pre-teens.

Located in Ibn Battuta Mall – Dubai, The Little Gym is a child development center offering a wide range of programs that are all age appropriate for children between the ages of 4 months to 12 years old. The gym focuses on their 3 main philosophies of “Get Moving, Brain Boost and Citizen Kid” concentrating on the development of flexibility, strength, and balance; listening and decision-making skills as well as sharing, teamwork, and cooperation.

I took Leila to join a parent/child class with instructor Zahir and I must admit, even I enjoyed the class. Zahir was attentive to the needs of each child in the class and made sure to explain each exercise very carefully, making the parent understand exactly how they can assist their children in a safe manner and what each specific exercise was helping the child develop. It was a fun learning environment, with music, singing, and dancing and I also like the fact that children are not forced to participate in activities if they prefer exploring the gym instead.

The class starts off with a welcome song to introduce yourself to the group and then the fun and games begin. Through music, song, and dance you are taught different movements such as handstands, cartwheels, and tumbles. The gym is equipped with soft mats that cover the entire floor space, balancing beams at different heights as well as high bars and balancing frames. The introduction of bubbles, tambourines, bells, and balls makes the class fun and interactive for the little ones.

The Little Gym is a membership-based program and to register you are required to pay a fee of AED 210. The class fees start at AED 160 per class with packages available at a lower rate. The Little Gym also offers birthday parties and holiday camps.
